Solidarity with the Palestinian Struggle for Life, Freedom and Land

Joint BLAC-APDUSA statement

BLAC and APDUSA have joined forces in battles in different arenas. This united action flows from our shared viewpoint that progressive forces of the oppressed and exploited must unite to overthrow the capitalist system. This statement is both an example of what we mean by organised unity and the equal basis on which we strive to construct such a unified anti-capitalist movement.

A mural in Gaza sadly observes: ‘It’s not death that terrifies us, it’s life here!’

This damning revelation holds true for an entire Palestinian nation who has lived a macabre horror story for the past 75 years as victims of illegal Israeli occupation, political oppression, human rights violations and violent land dispossession. Recent human rights abuses (which tend to be frequent practice by the Zionist Israeli government) is euphemistically coined ‘mowing the lawn’ which is Orwellian newspeak for bombing innocent civilians and flattening buildings in which they seek refuge. Based on credible accounts of qualified human rights groups, this inhumane military aggression against an unarmed people, mostly women and children, led to the tragic loss of a child’s life every ten minutes. More than 15 000 innocent civilians lost their lives with nearly half of them being children. The unspeakable evil that the Palestinian people are subjected to, could scarcely have been imagined in the worst nightmares of Stephen King himself. Countless accounts abound of premature babies removed from their incubators and dying due to the hospital bombings; of women and children bombed with their limbs ripped off their bodies; of people starved to death, denied water, food, electricity and basic humanitarian aid. These flagrant violations of international conventions and international law, amount to international war crimes, the likes that had last been seen in Nazi Germany. We witnessed these atrocities on international media and social media, whilst merrily executed with impunity by Apartheid Israel.

And whilst this vile campaign of unashamed genocide and ethnic cleansing continues unabated, one cannot ignore the complicity of so-called western democracies and its powerful media in actively supporting and justifying the systematic massacre of tens of thousands of Palestinians who had absolutely nothing to do with the attacks on 7 October 2023. Yet, these were the people that suffered the wrath of an evil, corrupt and racist regime as collective punishment. The narrative spun by these evil-doers was that Israel had a right to defend itself against Hamas. Shortly thereafter a reign of terror was unleased on a defenseless people who were carpet bombed in mosques, churches and even hospitals in which they sought refuge. The lies about this genocide, proved even more vicious than the evil acts perpetrated against the people of Palestine. Horror stories of beheaded babies and other such fabricated atrocities proved to be fake news often retracted by the embedded mainstream media.

But what lies at the crux of this conflict? Credible historians are all agreed that the people of Palestine are the rightful owners of the land. They comprise members of all major religions in the region including native Palestinian Jews. Zionist Israel wants us to believe that they have a biblical claim to the promised land. Historical facts by ALL accounts confirm Palestinian people as the rightful owners of the land, annexed from them through British intervention. The Balfour declaration formalized the resettling of about 500 000 Jews from Europe in Palestine. The United Nations (then the League of Nations) in its infinite wisdom and without consulting the native Palestinians, partitioned off the biggest part of Palestine for these Jewish Settlers although they comprised only one third of the population then. But even this injustice was not enough and subsequently, Zionist militia quickly armed themselves and unleased a reign of terror, murdering thousands of Palestinians and taking control of over 80% of land. Shortly after this, in 1948, the State of Israel was declared. Political conflict in this region has been evident ever since.

The so-called western democracies have fully realised the strategic geopolitical and economic importance of the region for their own vested interests. A region renowned for its oil- and gas rich deposits and its strategic geopolitical role in the Middle East, Israel cannot do otherwise but be bolstered by America and Britain as a proxy government for them and other so called western democracies. Incidentally, the warfare machinery of death and destruction that kills babies in Gaza, are mostly American sponsored. The west has no desire to de-escalate this conflict but would rather pro-actively strengthen and entrench their hegemony over the region for economic and geopolitical reasons.

We observe this one-sided conflict with horror and disgust. We demand:
– An end to the Israeli occupation of Palestine;
– The release of all Palestinian hostages;
– The re-instatement of the land to its rightful owners;
– The right of the Palestinian people to govern themselves in an independent state;
– Return of all Palestinian refugees to their land

From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free!

Expose, resist and defeat imperialist schemes, for Palestinian liberation!
